In Praise of Jaime Kim

Jaime, you and I have had a tough time finding motivation for waking up early on Saturday mornings to make it for our group runs.  I think we are feeling the effects of this marathon being several months later than we originally intended, and we would like the damn thing to be here already.  I know the last few days I have felt especially lazy and in need of some down time.  The problem is that a day or two off can quickly turn into a week or two, or three or four.  I'm sure that it would have over the past few months if you hadn't been here encouraging me and working hard with me to get in better shape.  Even right now, as I type, you're out doing your long weekend run while I contemplate what I can use as motivation for mine.

As others have noted, it's hard to put in words how much you love someone, especially when that person is your spouse.  Luckily, when someone is your wife, they never leave (!!!, just kidding), meaning you get a lot of time to tell them how special they are.

When I first met you I quickly found a great friend, someone who was fun to study with, easy to talk to, who liked the same music, cooked great food.  I don't know why it took me four months to realize you were something special and that I should ask you out, but I'm glad I did.  The past 4+ years together have been amazing, and the last 2+ of being married have been the best by far.

Here are some of the things I've really enjoyed about you.  You are a great listener, and you have really worked to get to know what is important to me; you keep all my friends straight and remember most of the stories I tell you about them.  You have a great sense of humor; although I don't think some of your stunts are as funny as you do, I am happy that we can laugh together so much (part of staying healthy for sure).  You are a great aunt to Caleb, Dominic, & Evey; you make your own gifts for them, love playing with them, take pride in their accomplishments.  You're very talented professionally; you have worked in some very tough jobs, dealing with all kinds of frustrations, but have managed to keep a good perspective on it all (not to mention that you've brought home the bacon - or fakin' bacon as the case may be - for us the past 2 years.  I promise to contribute one of these days).

I love you tons, dude.  Thanks for being my motivation to always do well in life.  Thanks for getting the ball rolling on getting fit, for preparing good food, for keeping our lives healthy in so many ways.  There's plenty more I could say to tell you I love you, but I'll let some of the others have a turn.

Just wanted to share one more thing I'm really proud of Jaime for doing. Yesterday she found out that a store owner in Claremont is interested in selling one of Jaime's craft products (little boys' ties). Things aren't all the way figured out yet but, whatever happens, this is a huge step for Jaime on the way to realizing her dream. Way to go, dude!

Jaime,
I admire the way you motivated our lazy brother into running and even into doing the all sacred, marathon! Way to go!
Also, I love having you around because it brings out such a sweeter side of Caleb, it has been such an experience to watch you two fall in love and make your relationship work. Also, I think you are cool. You make cool stuff, you are crafty, which is something I admire in people.
I also admire your listening skills, I aspire to be a good listener and it is very inspirational to have such a great listener in my presence.
I am excited to see where life takes you, especially to see what celebutot will be wearing your stuff.
Thank you for being you, for caring about Caleb's family, especially me. I feel very lucky to have such a sweet sister-in-law, I know very few are as lucky as me.
I love you Jaime, thanks for all you do for Caleb and for us. Thanks also for going with me to have my palm read and for getting excited about the same things as me...and for doing errands in California for me, you are the best! Love you.

i admire jaime's ability to get it done. whatever it might be. i just love how she gets the task in mind and goes for it. the first time i saw this in jaime was on some difficult, emotional days of moving the webster family out of 3222. she saw the task, she saw what needed to be done, and dang it - girl just did it. inspiring.

and since then, i have really admired the organized, get-it-done, sister-in-law i have. and i admire her craftiness. BIG TIME. i love all the neat stuff she creates and thinks of and actually follows through and makes! awesome.

i also credit jaime with much of the inspiration for our family to begin running and doing long runs. who knew i'd be registered for a half-marathon? ever? thanks, jaime!

thank you for being you, jaime. we are lucky to have you in our family!
love you!

Jaime,

You are a positive influence in all our lives, most importantly for Caleb. Thank you for your love for him and your acceptance of each of us. You are an important part of our family and we all look forward to times we get to spend with you.

You have the gifts of the spirit--love, joy, peace, patience, kindness and understanding. You have also been given the gift of tears, and your tears show others the depth of your emotions. I think all those gifts will serve you well as a minister. I know you love to plan things, and I am still impressed with the liturgy you were involved with at the Claremont Baccalaureate service we attended.

Another gift you have is your creativity. Thank you for sharing that talent with the rest of us. The gifts you make are beautiful. Congratulations on finding a buyer for your products!

You have a nice way with children, and you seem very happy when you are interacting with your niece and nephews, and in the photos from Korea. I think you and Caleb will both be very good parents one day.

I prayed for you since Caleb was a toddler, that God was preparing the perfect woman for him. My prayers were answered.

I love you, Jaime.
